Hamilton, NJ -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/29/2018 -- The Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey (CCGNJ) is preparing to host its 36th Annual Statewide Conference on Disordered Gambling and is calling for sponsors and those looking to set up a booth exhibit to apply today. The event is slated for Friday, September 21 at the NJHA Conference and Event Center in Princeton, NJ.
"Prevention, Intervention, Treatment: A Collaborative Approach to Addressing Disordered Gambling" is the theme of this year's conference, highlighting the many factors that can propel a gambling disorder and examining how a collaborative approach can be an effective way of addressing the problem.
The event will begin with a breakfast and opening remarks from Neva Pryor, the Executive Director of the CCGNJ. Shortly after, attendees will hear from Timothy W. Fong, M.D., Professor of Psychiatry, and Director of Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship at UCLA, as he discusses cannabis and its effect on gambling disorders.
"The Annual Statewide Conference on Disordered Gambling is a time for leaders in the field to get together and share their knowledge and research to help combat the issue of disordered gambling in America," explains Neva Pryor.
While the conference is serving as a continuing education course worth 6 CEU hours (pending approval) toward LCADC/CADC recertification, the CCGNJ is welcoming anyone interested in learning about the latest findings on disordered gambling and how to address the problem. With an insightful keynote presentation addressing the impact of marijuana in the lives of disordered gambling individuals in Atlantic City and workshops on a range of hot-button gambling topics including the potential consequences of legalized sports betting in New Jersey, this year's conference is lining up to be another enlightening event.
